About the Foundation
The McCormick Home Foundation is a charitable organization (Registration No. 119035434 RR0001) that was established in 1984. The Mission of the McCormick Home Foundation is to raise funds to support resident care and quality of life for McCormick Home and Alzheimer Outreach Services.
Funds raised support life enrichment programs and therapeutic recreational activities that are designed to enhance the quality of life for residents and clients.
Through a variety of fundraising initiatives, the Foundation has contributed a cumulative total of more than $1 million in support of McCormick Home and Alzheimer Outreach Services.
These grants have provided funding for:
- Enhanced resident programs such as music and art therapy and country drives
- Special Events programs – Strawberry Social, Classic Car Show, Celebration of Life and special dinners such as Thanksgiving, Easter and Christmas dinners
- Garden Enhancements – flowering plants and shrubs, benches and garden ornaments for both gardens and balconies throughout McCormick Home
- Tree of Life Quilt Grant – referred to as “the last hug” at McCormick Home. This quilt covers residents on their final journey from McCormick Home. Thank you to Bill Parkin for funding this grant.
- Dinnie Greenway International Year of Older Persons Award – for a staff member of McCormick Home and Alzheimer Outreach Services who demonstrates commitment to the mission, vision and values and seeks professional development that will enhance the quality of care he or she is able to deliver to resident and clients.
- Therapeutic recreational activities for Alzheimer Outreach Services clients who attend the day program known as “The Club” and weekend programs
- Art Therapy Program for Alzheimer Outreach Services
- Family and educational support programs that are available for caregivers and clients
- AOS Subsidy Fund for those who cannot afford the program’s user fees. The AOS Subsidy Fund gives an opportunity to those individuals whose financial resources are limited to benefit from the AOS programs.
Through tax deductible donations, the community assists the Foundation in continuing to meet the needs of the residents and clients were serve. Donations to the Foundation can be made by phone, fax or on-line. We accept cheques, cash, MasterCard and Visa. Tax receipts are issued for donations of $15.00 or more, or upon request. For memorial gifts we advise the family of gifts made in their loved one’s name.
